Mental health can’t wait: Join us this GivingTuesday

December 3, 2024 marks GivingTuesday, a global movement that encourages people to give back to their communities through donations, volunteering, or acts of kindness.

It’s a day to harness the power of generosity to create positive change in the world by supporting nonprofits and causes that matter.

Just Us has set an ambitious goal this year, and we need your help to achieve it. We’re aiming to raise $1,000 – the equivalent of 50 counselling sessions for people in need. With just a $20 donation, you can help someone access one free counselling session.

In the two short years we’ve been around, we’ve delivered more than 3,300 free and low-cost counselling sessions to nearly 800 individuals across New Brunswick – and the demand is growing.

According to the government of New Brunswick, over the past five years the demand for addiction and mental health services has increased 16 per cent. Requests from adults are up nine per cent, while youth service needs are up 33 per cent.

As a result of increased demand, wait times for new high-priority referrals have increased and less than 50 per cent are currently receiving treatment within national benchmarks.

Just Us is attempting to fill the gap. We believe that all residents of New Brunswick should be able to access the mental health support they require, as soon as possible, without wait times. Every moment counts when you’re struggling.

We’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact of our therapy programs and their transformative effects on people’s lives. Now we need you to help us reach even more people in need.

This GivingTuesday, consider a donation to Just Us. Learn about the ways you can support us.
